When I am not designing brand and web content, you can find me deep diving into a 6 hour long makeup look that I go no where in, cuddling on the couch with my two cats and my husband, or looking up plane tickets to jet off on my next adventure. My husband always says I love to be where ever I am not currently, and in a sense, he is totally right. I love to explore the world and take in as many different sights and cultures as possible. It does wonders for creativity which I can then translate into designs for my clients!
Let's be real, we are all multi-passionate in some way, shape, or form because we ALL have multiple interests. Some people may have more than others, and for some (like me)- I simply can't live my life just chasing one passion. And, news flash, being multi-passionate DOES make you a special unicorn. Because even though we all are, none of us are the same...and isn't that freakin cool?!
So, for me, I have a deep love of creating. In so many different facets. Anytime I can get my hands on a blank canvas and turn it into something awe-inspiring and beautiful, I go all in. Some of my first memories of my passion for creativity actually revolve around makeup. Makeup was my first creative love. There are pictures of me as a very young child with the wildest face paint looks that I would give myself. I (thankfully) have really honed in on my talents in the makeup department and have moved on from whatever I used to attempt (there is truly no telling what my goal was with those "makeup" looks). I still love creative makeup to this day and in my spare time you can find me playing with makeup or talking about makeup for hours on in.
Lets fast forward to college where I attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a PR major. I did end up graduating with a Bachelors degree in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing, but my absolute favorite classes were my graphic design classes. I was hooked from day 1 in graphic design 101. The same spark that I have had for makeup since I was a child, lit up in me in these classes. And there was born my passion of branding and web design as I get to do everyday now. Boy am I thankful for that random elective!
If you know me even a little bit, you know that I tend to live my daily life in somewhat of a reverie. As I mentioned earlier, my husband always says that I love to be wherever I am not currently. And again, there is some truth to that statement. Don't get me wrong, I am incredibly grateful for the present and where I am and who I am in my life right at this moment. BUT (and this is a big but), I believe that you create your reality and the idea of living a life that I don't daydream about is a reality that I don't want to live in. I want to create my dream life and I have found that design is one of my favorite avenues that can do this for me.
When I am designing something for either myself or a client, I constantly find myself lost in the bliss of the design process. I get such enjoyment out of being able to listen to someone gush about their dreams and then helping them turn that mind picture into a physical reality they can share with the world. It's my JAM.
One last note for you, YOU CAN LIVE YOUR DREAM LIFE TOO. At the end of the day, if I can inspire one person to stray from the cookie cutter path they believe they "have to" take and go after the life of their dreams...I. WILL. BE. BEOYND. HAPPY. Life is too short to not live a life you aren't obsessed with. So, take the risk, do the thing, go on the trip, start the biz, DON'T QUIT YOUR DAYDREAM.
